YOYO – A Spin Through Creativity
At the heart of this book lies a unique tradition. A ritual that is more than a creative exercise; it is a transfer of momentum — that breaks paradigms, encourages risk-taking, and sparks transformation through play. A Yoyo is a simple object, yes, but one that invites bold questions, material experiments, and conceptual freedom. What emerges is a collection of ideas reflecting the Studio's spirit: reinvention, poetic, precise, and curious. As Europe's most awarded independent design studio, PHOENIX has been a place where innovation meets intention. The Studio opens a door through this book for the first time, capturing a piece of that journey and celebrating design as a way of thinking, feeling, and reimagining the world.“Design a Yoyo!” - a task that has been given to each and every intern since 1987. Except, it usually does not stop there: Sven Feustel, Principal Designer and Head of the PHOENIX Academy has been intensively involved for years with current trends and future fields that are changing the world. Influences that are also reflected in the choice of theme for the Yoyo task: Some examples are Yoyos made of recycled plastic, assembled in the lightest possible construction, or made of pasta. innovation - as a recurring confrontation with the familiar, the unknown, the complex or the simple.Search inside (PDF)  Watch the YOYO Video here

Design in Frankfurt 1920–1990
Modern Design in Frankfurt/Main – the other "Bauhaus""Less, but better": The motto of the Frankfurt designer Dieter Rams is still topical today – and very much so. In the face of rapid globalization and an increasing number of premium product consumers, the question on the resources and the longevity of products inevitably arises. The book outlines the prevalent design trends in Frankfurt and in the Rhine-Main-area from the 1920s to the 1980s. For furniture, interior and graphic design made in and around Frankfurt over seven decades, functionality, visuaö strength, austerity, aestethics in clear shapes and the visionary element always plays a major role. This first compact illustration of regional design also raises the question, to what extent German design in the 20th century defined itself through decentralized but intensively interlinked places and institutions.Catalogue of the exhibition in the Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt.Search inside on ISSUU.com

And this is demonstrated by the most recent edition of the Trade Fair Design Annual: once again, the editors Sabine Marinescu and Janina Poesch have compiled and analysed more than 50 presentations of international top brands. Large illustrations, detailed plans and interviews with designers explain the standards for trade fair design of the future.

See the Light – Licht sehen. Candela Lichtplanung
Taking account of the natural feeling for light and the reaction to certain light moods, lighting designer Michele A. Rami places people and their well-being at the centre of his planning approach: "Architecture is made for people. It must give them a place where they feel comfortable, where they can be who they are. And many factors play a role in this, some of which cannot be physically measured." The book "See the Light" showcases this approach and all its facets. The projects presented include, among others, several projects of the Stuttgart architects Bottega + Ehrhardt for whom Candela developed the lighting planning, the single-family house Dupli.Casa planned by Jürgen Mayer H. and, last but not least, the guest and holiday home "berge" by the design company Nils Holger Moormann in Aschau. Michele A. Rami founded the Candela lighting design studio in 1995. Today, around 15 employees work on a whole range of different lighting assignments at the offices in Stuttgart and Ulm. Administration buildings, public buildings, doctors offices, agencies, shops and exhibitions are among the projects for which Rami and his team develop lighting concepts alongside restaurants, bars and private homes.

Exhibition Planning

That way experienced museum people find out how designers think, and designers gain an insight into the organisational structures of museums and the objectives they pursue. Practice-related texts about teaming, conflict potential, project management through to the disagreeable subject of money identify the problems which those involved in planning an exhibition will face, but also the opportunities.
