The future of Experience Design: our yearbooks are relocating!
The yearbooks Retail Design International, Experience & Event Design and the Brand Experience & Trade Fair Design Annual have long since established themselves as standard works in the respective sectors. In autumn 2023, a new yearbook has entered the stage, Sustainable Architecture & Design. Relevant companies from the whole world submit their current projects and a jury together with the authors selects the ones to be published. Selection criteria such as creativity, innovation and originality ensure that start-ups and small companies have the same publication opportunities as major international players.

Dear Experience architects and designers,
av edition has been accompanying you since 1998 with the Best Of yearbooks about exhibition, event and retail design. Together with you, this has evolved into an internationally recognised standard series – for which we would like to express our cordial thanks! Without your bold concepts, surprising spaces and powerful stories these yearbooks would not exist.
Now we are starting a new chapter:
One yearbook, all formats – under a new roof.
As from 2027, the previous three yearbooks about exhibition, event and retail design will be bundled synergistically into one volume:
Experience Architecture & Design
This new yearbook brings together all formats under one label and will continue to be edited by the longstanding authors and experts in the field Janina Poesch, Katharina Stein and Prof. Dr Jons Messedat. Together they will continue the series as editors – together with Dr. Petra Kiedaisch, who has played a significant role for decades in developing the yearbooks as publisher.
Change of publishing house: from Stuttgart to Zurich The publication will be released in future by the renowned Swiss publisher Park Books in Zurich, who have been appointed by Dr. Petra Kiedaisch with the continuation and project management of the yearbook series – in other words continuity in terms of content is being given fresh momentum.
The publishing house av edition is being dissolved at the end of 2026 after 35 years of success in publishing. What remains are you – and a yearbook series that continues to grow and develop further together with you.
What is the outlook for the future?
We would like to ensure that you as readers, submitters and critical companions remain part of the yearbook. Because you are co-authors of the future of “Experience Architecture & Design”.
You can therefore already look forward to the next Call for Entries in the year 2027! As is customary, the publishing house and authors will invite you to submit once again the best, most impressive and most innovative projects that you have planned, designed and built in the last two years:
• the boldest exhibition presences and brand worlds
• the most surprising events
• the most innovative retail experiences
• the best exhibitions and museums
• and everything in between that transforms (digital and analogue) spaces into experiences.
