In the iF ranking, Loewe is among the top 10 German companies awarded for exceptional design performances. This is a good reason to take a close look at the design history of the company on the occasion of its 100-year anniversary. The design historian Kilian Steiner distinguishes three historical phases: The first phase (1923 to 1945) marks the build-up and destruction of the Loewe brand. In the second phase (1945 to 1985), the focus was on the rebuilding of Loewe and overcoming numerous changes. The third period from 1985 onwards saw the rise of Loewe to an internationally renowned design brand. For the first time, the creative minds in product and communication design who contributed to the development of the brand are named and previously unknown details of the Loewe corporate history are revealed. From its foundation in 1923 to the invention of the electronic television in 1931, Loewe has evolved into a globally operating design brand. A unique combination of German engineering, excellence, exclusive design and sustainability have shaped the brand culture.Search inside on ISSUU.com
We already have the ability to create buildings that are both sustainable and breathtakingly beautiful today – if only we can summon the will do to so. Designed by Werner Sobek with Dirk E. Hebel and Felix Heisel, the "Urban Mining & Recycling" Experimental Unit (UMAR) uses the example of serially manufactured housing to demonstrate the first fully comprehensive application of recyclable materials. All of the elements required to construct the Unit had to be 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable. In order to achieve this goal, every single detail, every product and every structure involved in the project was scrutinised with a critical eye. Prof. Werner Sobek is the founder of an international group of engineering and design consultancies, offering premium consultancy services for architecture, structures, façades and sustainability. By means of award-winning experimental buildings such as R128, H16, F87, B10 and (most recently) UMAR he studies how new materials, structures and technologies can bring about a radical change of our built environment. Leading the way for the use of recyclates in serial houses Construction. Plea for sustainable and at the same time breathtakingly beautiful building.Werner Sobek on YouTubeSearch inside on ISSUU.com
A book not only about a love of design and the designers at DREIMETA, their inspiring and sometimes curious projects, but also a look behind the scenes at the creation of adventurous ideas – the soul and the driver of creation – as well as hunters and collectors, artists and artisans who live their passion. Potterers, farmers, weavers, each an artist in their field, driven by the idea of creating something quite special, right down to the last detail. Pictures, sketches and collages with side notes – an extract from 15 years of hotel design that has had a lasting effect on the sector, along with interesting anecdotes and memories from many of those involved – including "greats" from the hotel industry such as Claus Sendlinger, Kai Hollmann, Christoph Hoffmann and Remo Masala. Revitalisation of a landmarkFor three years, the architecture photographer HG Esch with impressive images documented the energetic renovation of the HVB-Tower in Munich, which has been the head office of the HypoVereinsbank since 2016. The characteristic exterior of the building, mirroring the sky in accordance with the design idea of the original architects Walther and Bea Betz and whose color is constantly changing with the intensity and incidence of sunlight, was replaced by a technologically pioneering façade construction. It contributes significantly to the new sustainability concept for one of Munich’s landmarks, achieving a significant reduction in energy consumption.A particular challenge for Henn Architekten, HVB Immobilien AG and all others involved in the construction was the visual reconstruction of the distinctive outer appearance of the heritage-protected HVBTower's façade, alongside all the technical innovation.
Single-family houses that set benchmarksWerner Sobek is a researcher, designer and the founder of an internationally active group of planning offices. As an architect and consulting engineer, he has spent many years creating prize-winning experimental buildings to examine how new materials, structures and technologies can radically change our built environment. The single-family houses he has designed (such as R128, H16, Y1 and B10) have set new benchmarks with regard to both technology and aesthetics. This book presents the most important examples of his work from the last two decades.
German - Russian Edition Werner Sobek is one of the leading engineers and structural designers of our time. His works have been awarded numerous distinctions and enjoy worldwide the highest reputation. They all excel through their high level of sophistication and innovation, both with regard to materials and structural systems, thus demonstrating impressively Werner Sobek's biggest asset: the capacity to design filigree, nearly dematerialised structures with perfect details, structures that are in true harmony with their form and function. This book presents a sample of the most important projects in the fields of design, materials, skins and structures.

One House. Energy for many. The Active House B10 is situated in the heart of the famous Weissenhof estate in Stuttgart. It is a research project exploring how innovative materials, constructions and technologies can sustainably improve our built environment. Owing to an ingenious energy concept and self-learning home automation, the building produces twice its energy requirement. The surplus thus gained powers two electric cars and an adjacent building designed by the architect Le Corbusier (since 2006 home to the Weissenhof museum).Prof. Werner Sobek is the founder of a globally active association of planning agencies for architecture, support structure planning, façade planning, sustainability consulting and design. Based on award-winning experimental buildings such as R128, H16, F87 and B10 he analyses how new materials, structures and technologies can radically change our built environment.

Airports today are a new building type. They have become a strange combination of transportation centre and shopping mall. Like in a city the experience leads through squares, streets and rooms for transportation, commerce and private uses. At Suvarnabhumi Airport innovative and integrated architectural structural and environmental design were used, new materials and systems of advanced technology developed. The result is a building flooded with controlled daylight in a tropical climate. After eleven years of planning and construction the terminal was opened for passenger traffic in Setpember 2006. Helmut Jahn is head of the renowned architectural firm Murphy/Jahn, based in Chicago. Founded over 70 years ago, Murphy/Jahn has created many notable projects in the United States and Europe, including Chicago O’Hare International Airport, United Airlines Terminal One Complex, Sony Center, Berlin and Post Tower, Bonn, Germany.
